In order to choose the correct tooth per inch for your material, please follow the guidelines given in the product images or follow the guidelines below:

Hook Tooth: Positive 10° rake angle and deeper gullets make the hook form ideal for ripping * hardwoods & timber with difficult grains. The tooth form gives the blade an aggressive nature, which will cut fast but leave a rough finish.

Skip Tooth: 0° rake angle with flat gullet resists clogging. Best for softer woods, non ferrous metals, plastics and resawing.

Regular Tooth: Standard blade style for general cutting of all woods and thin material such as plastics. The teeth are proportionally spaced and good for contour sawing. Regular blades are
ideal for cutting thin materials with a fine finish. Not for re-sawing.

For Radius cutting:

Blade Width (“)             –               Minimum Radius (“)

      1/8″                                                        3/16″

     3/16″                                                       5/16″

     1/4″                                                         5/8″

     3/8″                                                        1 1/3″

     1/2″                                                        2 1/2″

     5/8″                                                         4″

     3/4″                                                       5 1/2″

      1″                                                             7″

For cut-off sawing the blade should be as wide as the machine will allow. The wider the band is, the straighter the cut will be. Faster feeding can be achieved.

For contour sawing, the blade should be as wide as the machine allows, but still narrow enough so it can cut the desired shape (radius).

The number of tooth per inch is important for obtaining the finish desired and the proper feed rate. A coarse tooth blade should be used for resawing wood and cutting thicker stock up to 8″. A fine toothed blade should be used for thinner materials, such as plastics under 1/4″. For example, for general purpose cutting of 3/4″ timber, 4tpi will provide a fast cut but 14tpi will cut slower and leave a smoother finish.
